Ubuntu in motion.
Every request carries a person, a livelihood and a destination that matters. We design with that responsibility in mind.
It’s your first day at work. Your child’s school concert. The last taxi after a long shift. Someone waiting for you to get home.
Standing on a road you don’t know. Trying to work out the right hand signal. Finishing a job in a suburb with no obvious taxi rank, then walking further just to start the journey home.
These are the everyday uncertainties behind Khomba. They cost people time, energy and peace of mind. And while a commuter waits, a driver may already be travelling nearby without knowing there is someone to pick up.
Khomba is being built to connect those two journeys. Public e-hailing for the minibus-taxi network: a way for commuters to make their destination visible and for participating drivers to find passengers along the route ahead.
See how the connection worksTo make South Africa’s everyday taxi journey safer, simpler and more connected.
Khomba chomi, Asambe.
Our vision is to become trusted digital infrastructure connecting commuters, drivers, taxi associations and cities across Africa.
That starts with earning trust on an ordinary journey, on an ordinary phone, under real conditions. Listening to commuters. Respecting the knowledge of drivers and associations. Testing what we build with the people who will use it.
More earning opportunities for drivers. Clearer information for commuters. Meaningful participation for associations. And, over time, responsible insights that help communities and cities understand movement.
Every request carries a person, a livelihood and a destination that matters. We design with that responsibility in mind.
A working journey matters. Real commuter and driver experiences guide what we build and what we improve.
Age, identity, language, disability or an unfamiliar postcode should never make someone an afterthought in the design.
